In this Science segment, we examine a call by more than 20 countries at the COP28 summit for the tripling of world nuclear energy capacity, this in a bid to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The declaration was endorsed by nations including the US, Ghana and Japan, as well as several European countries. So what explains this sudden renewed interest in nuclear energy?
