Anti-tobacco campaign: France bans smoking in parks and close to schools

The French health ministry has presented its national anti-tobacco plan for the 2023-2027 period. Smoking will be banned on all beaches, in public parks and forests and around certain public buildings such as schools as of 2024. Meanwhile, the price of a packet of cigarettes will be raised to €13 in 2026, from €11 today. Our Science Editor Julia Sieger tells us more about these measures.
