The recent resignations of high-profile female leaders, the anti-Amber Heard cyberbullying operation after her trial against Johnny Depp and the mass harassment of female rights activists have one common thread: the use of gendered disinformation campaigns that are often monetized by digital platforms. The global phenomenon risks not only discouraging women from participating in politics, but also threatens democratic institutions.
