The Israeli military has said its forces are “in the heart” of Khan Younis, the main city in southern Gaza where Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar and Mohammed Deif grew up, says FRANCE 24’s Irris Makler, reporting from Jerusalem. For civilians, life is getting “very complicated” notes Makler. Israel has designated two “safe” areas: a slice of territory called Muwasi along the Mediterranean coast and an area near Rafah, Gaza’s southernmost city. But both areas lack basic facilities.
