Afghan refugees detained and deported in Pakistan as deadline expires

Pakistani security forces on Wednesday rounded up, detained and deported dozens of Afghans who were living in the country illegally, after a government-set deadline for them to leave expired, authorities said. Some 200,000 undocumented Afghans out of the 1.7 million living in Pakistan have already left the country voluntarily. Afghans in Pakistan have been facing harassment from authorities for several years, FRANCE 24’s Islamabad correspondent Shahzaib Wahlah said.
