Queen Elizabeth II was 'a figure of enormous stability for the UK'

Tony Travers, Director of the Institute of Public Affairs at the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE), joins FRANCE 24 to offer a retrospective of Queen Elizabeth II's "remarkable" 70-year legacy. Professor Travers describes a young constitutional monarch who hit the ground running at the tender age of 26, under the aegis of Winston Churchill. She presided over a post-war "period of extraordinary social and economic change in Britain, right away, through to today's information-driven age." And she will not just be remembered for her "longevity and continuity," explains Professor Travers, "but the way in which she did her job well."
